I am happy to announce that Dr. K. Renato Lings has accepted the
position of Other Sheep Coordinator for Europe. We are privileged to
have him serve in this capacity. We sincerely welcome him to Other
Sheep.

He began his ministry as Other Sheep Coordinator on or around
June 1, 2011.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Renato works as a translator,
interpreter, teacher, lecturer and writer.

He is a member of the Society for Old Testament Study (UK), the
Society for the Study of Theology (UK) and the Society of Biblical
Literature.

He is Danish by birth. His religious affiliation is with the Religious
Society of Friends (Quakers).

Renato's areas of formal study include Literature and Christianity;
Philosophy, Greek and Hebrew; Social Sciences; and Spanish. His
PhD theses (2006), University of Exeter (UK) is titled Restoring
Sodom: Towards a Non-sexual Approach.

Renato says on his web site:

    "To detoxify the Bible" is one of his "projects." His site explains:
    "This project is intimately connected with the rest of my work. It
    highlights the aim to make the Bible accessible to a great
    number of people who feel alienated from it.

    For centuries the Bible has been cast in the role of bully.
    Women have been taught that they are inferior 'on biblical
    grounds'. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people have
    been told that there is no respectable place for them in the faith
    community. Again this message is delivered 'on biblical
    grounds'. As a result, millions of spiritual seekers hesitate-or
    refuse-to pick up a Bible. They view it as a source of
    discrimination and abuse."
